Zarjaz #2

From the outset billing and presentation this is an impressive package. New 2000 AD script-droid and mover talent behind small press compendium Top Notch Tosh, Andrew Lewis edits as a professional. Alan Grant scripts a short Judge Anderson tale and is illuminatingly entertaining in a four-page interview with Lewis.

Many of the small pressers of the last decade have work published here; Chandler, Hoskin, Tim and Patrick Brown, Eales, Askham, Bamforth and Dr. Bob, along with a group of others whose names are new to me. Not being a regular 2000 AD picker-upper, the unfamiliarity I have with these characters is somewhat disabling, and several strips did leave me staring at the pages -> huh? There is enough variety in the representation of versions to impart the a good and I guess are a pleasant alternative to 2000 AD or the Megazine.

Zarjaz #2’s outstanding feat for me is a ten page feature, ‘So you wanna be a script-droid?’ Diggle, Bishop, Irving, editor Matt Smith, Rennie, John Smith, D’Israeli, Si Spurrier, Chris Standley, Bamforth, Henry Flint and Alan Grant make offerings of solid advices covering many many areas of writing for comics. The word ‘definitive’ is somewhat apt.

Well, it’s up to you. You know were the stamps, pen, money and envelopes are. Despite being based around Rebellion product, this is obviously a production that can stand on it’s own two feet. A4 and 76 scrotnig pages for £2.50 & 50p for p&p. Available from Andrew Lewis, 39 Priory Court, Brynoch, Neathmm SA10 7RZ
