Sturgeon White Moss - 2

"Come back when you are less weird."
(Matt Abbiss, 'Bonter')

Sturgeon White Moss on it's second outing seems to have done just that. It's wittier, sharper and more coherent than the first isue, and has again managed to amass an impressive fistful of contributors.

Amongst the highlights are Tom Gauld's winsome gem of a tale, 'Cat, Bear and Ghost', the supremely dapper 'Salem Brownstone' by John Dunning and Nik Singh, and Sophie Crumb's 'You Can't Please Everybody'. Though the latter doesn't quite seem to have found her voice, it's an interesting piece (and surely raises the question, did Robert Crumb beget his daughter via Clonaid?).
Alexander Tucker's continued story 'Thou', which fit passably in Issue 1's basket of kookiness, seems out of place with the cooler, more well adjusted inmates showcased here. Still, there seems to be a lysergic thread binding the Sturgeon White Moss anthologies together....and that's no bad thing! Go buy, I reckon.
